Female admission seeker commits suicide over low score in UTME

A 19-year-old female admission seeker, Timilehin Faith Opesusi committed suicide after getting a low score in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) by Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

According to report, Opesusi ingested rodent poison on Monday after scoring 190 in the recently released results. Her belief was that, her grade was low for her desired course of study which a source said, was Microbiology.
In fact, it was said, that her disappointment stemmed from her result which is lower than the 2024 UTME result.

Opesusi, a native of Abeokuta, before her death was a resident of Odogunyan in Ikorodu, Lagos State. She lived with her elder sister.

It was gathered that after Opesusi poisoned herself, she went to her sister’s workplace where she had asked her for palm oil to relieve the pa!n caused by something she had ingested at home.
Recognising the severity of the situation, her sister raised the alarm, attracting sympathisers to the scene.

On the way to the hospital, Opesusi reportedly confessed to taking poison before she left home. Sadly, she gave up at Kolak Hospital in Odogunyan, Ikorodu.

In a twist of fate, barely 30 minutes after her death, Opesusi received a provisional admission notification via her Gmail account. Her parents arrived in Ikorodu upon hearing the news and took her body to Abeokuta for burial.

However, her family and neighbors are grieving. Many described the late Opesusi as a humble and respectful young lady with lots of aspirations.
